Li esta notícia com um certo atraso, num domingo onde a bola da vez era o futebol.
Fiquei em silêncio.
As palavras de alguns livros trazem uma força própria. Primeiro nos modificam para depois permanecerem eternamente em nossas almas.
Foi assim quando descobri Saramago, quando li pela primeira vez Dostoyevsky e quando devorei com um apetite juvenil Cortázar.
Nada ficou no mesmo lugar depois de encontrá-los.
Mas hoje fiquei sem as palavras, hoje conheci o silêncio.

I was a bit late for the news, I read it on Sunday night, a day where the real news was a ball, a foot ball.

I looked at the words and I kept silent.

Some words and books have a strange power. First they bring your inside out and than seems like they will remain forever in your soul.

So was it when I discovered Saramago, when I first read Dostoyevsky and when I ate with a juvenile appetite the books of Cortázar.

Nothing remained at the same place after meeting them.

But today the words were gone.

Today I meet the silent.

O arquiteto italiano e designer Gaetano Pesce é o novo colaborador da marca brasileira de sapatos Melissa.
O novo modelo, Melissa +, é uma bota de cano curto feito de círculos interligados. A novidade é que o sapato pde ser customizado. Os círculos podem ser cortados nas extremidades de diferentes maneiras, tornando cada modelo único.

The Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce is the new partner of the Brazilian shoe label Melissa.
The new model, Melissa +, is a ankle boot comprised of interconnected circles. The news is that the shoe can be custmazed. By cutting the edges of the boot, the custmer can creat his own model.

Depois de ver esta foto deliciosa num blog cheio de receita incríveis, voltei do supermercado com uma sacola cheia de abricôs.
Apesar de não saber exatamente o que são alguns desses ingredientes (xantham gum e sorghum flour ???) eu não vou desisitir de por a mão na massa.

After seeing this delicious picture in a blog full of amazing recipes I came back from the supermarkt with a lot of apricot.
Despite not knowing exactaly some of the ingredients (xantham gum and sorghum flour ???) I’ll not give up the idea of giving it a try.

A. Herchcovitch and SP

Quando eu trabalhava com moda e morava em SP eu não perdia um desfile do Alexandre Herchcovitch.
Ele sempre foi articulado, inteligente e surpreendia todo mundo a cada coleção.
Tenho várias peças dele no meu guarda roupa e elas não saem de moda, isso porque são coleções inspiradas em temas criados pelo estilista, que não seguem necessariamente uma tendência e por isso não ficam datadas.
Adorei encontrar este vídeo no Refinery 29 hoje e poder rever um pouco da minha cidade e referências que já foram tão importantes para mim.

When I worked with fashion and lived in SP, Brazil, I never missed a Alexandre Herchcovitch cat walk show.
He is articulate, intelligent and always surprises with his delighted collections.

I still have several pieces from his label in my closet and they don't get old because his collection are inspired by themas that are intriguing the designer at that moment, translating more an internal world than a trend.

It was a pleasant surprise to find this video at Refinary 29 today and watch a bit of my city and references that were so important to me once.

Mobilia Verde / Green Furniture

Ela é uma designer noroeguesa morando em Londres.
A primeira foto mostra uma coleção toda feita com restos de madeiras coletados na Dinamarca que juntos formaram um tipo de patchwork.
No projeto da estante, ‘block shelf project’, ela usou uma corda e 20 tipos diferentes de madeiras recuperadas do lixo de um importador em Londres.
Com esta idéia Amy ganhou o segundo lugar no Green Furniture Award 2010.

She is a Norwegian designer based in London.
The first photo shows a colection entirely made out wood waste and off-cuts collected in Denmark. The pieces were put together to form a wood patchwork.
The block shelf project uses a rope and 20 different types of leftover wood that were retrieved from a timber importer in London.
With this idea she woon the second place during the Green Furniture Award 2010.

O holandês Roeland Otten mora na mesma cidade que eu, Rotterdam e fez uma coleção de cadeiras com a forma das 26 letras do alfabeto.
O projeto chamada ABChairs.

Como ele mesmo diz: 'um alfabeto para sentar e cadeiras para escrever'.

The Dutch Roeland Otten live in the same city as me, Rotterdam. He made a collection of 26 chairs with the shape of the alphabet letters.
It’s called the ABChair.
Like he says: ‘an alphabet to sit on and chairs to form words with’.

Amor de mãe / Mother's Love

Estive muito ocupada na última semana com o aniversário do meu filho e por isso o sumiço.
Aqui onde eu moro as crianças para comemorarem o aniversário na escola levam 2 bolos, um para comerem na classe com os amigos e o outro para os professores, escute bem, para todos os professores da escola!
Na tradição holandesa o aniversariante vai em cada classe da escola e oferece um pedaço de bolo aos professores. É a chamada ‘traktatie’.
Em outras palavras, eu preparei 25 mini bolos e 25 lembrancinhas para as crianças da classe e mais 26 cookies para os professores.
Foi uma semana cheia mas também muito gostosa. Sol, calor e claro, o prazer de ver meu filho chegar todo orgulhoso na escola com os quitutes.
Quando vi aqueles olhinhos brilhando, ouvi ‘obrigado mae!’ e ganhei um beijo apertado, esqueci todo o resto.

I was very very busy last week with my son's birthday and that’s why I disappear.
Here where I live, the kids use to celebrate their birthday at school with two cakes. One to eat in the class with the other kids, and other to give to the teachers. I mesan to all teachers in the school!
In the Dutch tradition the kid goes to each class and offers a piece of cake to the teachers. It's called ‘traktatie’.
In other words, I made 25 mini cakes and gifts to 25 kids from his class and more 26 cookies for the teachers.
It was a full week but also very nice. Lovely weather and a happy kid, very proud of the goodies he was bringing to school to share with his friends.
And when I saw those little eyes shinning and got a goodbye kiss after a ‘thanks maam’, I forgot the rest.
